Twitter what the hell? I signed into my Twitter account the other day and I was asked to participate in a survey. Plus I was told that I had a chance to win a new “IPad”.
Well it is Twitter…right? So it must be on the up and up. I clicked on the survey and was taken to a terrible land of false promises and other low end techniques to pry my personal information from me. I was shocked.
Twitter is my major news source. When something happens I turn to Twitter. I have made “lists” for certain coverage (News, Political News, Sports, People and others) that way during the day I can filter out news that I want. Twitter is a great tool.
But somehow I get the feeling that Biz Stone is not very happy with his lot in life. First he makes a god awful vodka ad. Then he has given some very strange interviews. Does he crave more attention? Does Twitter really need the money that bad that they are sending me to a suspect site that would up getting (I am sad to say) my cell number and thus “signed me up” for a $9.99 a month service that I had to call my mobile provider and spend 20 minutes on the phone to get them to take it off?
Biz Stone is making Mark Zuckerberg look media savvy.
I remember when Twitter wanted to be Global significant. They wanted to have one billion users. I sure hope that Twitter doesn’t lose its’ way and become some front for a sleazy marketing company.
